Special fire safety arrangements are introduced in Tatarstan from 25 December 2023 to 8 January 2024

On 23 December, reporting about current operational fire situation at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov with all municipalities of the republic, the Deputy Head of the Chief Fire Department of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in Tatarstan Konstantin Chanyshev informed that in the current year there have been 4 798 fires killing 134 people, which was by 11 per cent more than during the same period last year.

“Every year during holidays and New Year celebrations, the number of fires rises by 50 per cent and the number of people dying of fire also doubles. At the same time 75 per cent of fires and 90 per cent of deaths happen at the living sector,” he informed and reminded about the Decree of the regional Cabinet of Ministers which introduces a special fire safety arrangements in Tatarstan from 25 December 2023 till 8 January 2024.

He told about fines to be imposed on citizens and legal entities for violations of these arrangements and about recommendations given to municipalities concerning organization of special site for launching fireworks.

As for today there are 1 047 such sites (compared to 1 165 last year), Konstantin Chanyshev said.
