The decree envisages development of a new transport service using unmanned aircraft systems and a distributed network of drone-ports in Innopolis that will supplement the existing system of aircraft works and goods delivery. This will also make it possible to perform other services such as carrying out photographic operations and examination of pipelines, electricity transmission lines and other infrastructural facilities. The sandbox will use technologies of working with big data, industrial technologies in production management, technologies of robotics and sensorics as well as technologies of wireless connection in protected telecommunications.

Giving his comments, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov said: “In 2018 Innopolis started operations of unmanned taxi with an engineer on the front passenger seat and four years later introduced the regulatory sandbox in using unmanned cars without an engineer inside. The new regulatory sandbox is a natural continuation of work of Tatarstan and Innopolis in developing unmanned technologies and will become a starting point for developing new services and products.”
