In six years Tatarstan has allocated 60.5 bn rubles on environmental protection

On 27 February, speaking at a briefing in the Government House of the republic on implementation of Ecology National Projects and plans in environmental protection in 2024, Tatarstan Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Aleksandr Shadrikov told that since 2019 the republic has implemented 30 actions for 17.6bn rubles by 6 federal projects, such as “Recovery of the Volga”, Preservations of Unique Water Bodies, Pure Water, Preservations of Forests and the Complex System of Waste Management. 

He said that 8 actions for 5.7 bn rubes are planned to be implemented in 2024-2026 and added: “Due to the national project we have improved living conditions of 2.7m people.” 

The Minister also informed that in six years the republic invested 60.5bn rubles into environmental protection measures, including 25.59 bn allocated on ecological events. The measures taken prevented 65.5bn rubles of environmental damage, he said.

He also told about decreasing hazardous emissions due to reconstruction of waste water management facilities, replacement of technological equipment at various plants and air and water bodies monitoring and emphasized the necessity of organizing an inter-departmental working group to solve a problem with air pollution in the Northern part of Kazan as “the number of complains on air quality has been rising since the end of 2022.”

Aleksandr Shadrikov also informed about proposals on recovery of Tatarstan water bodies that were submitted to the Russian Minister of Nature.
