Tatarstan Prime Minister holds session of the Council for alcohol products turnover

On October 21 Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov chaired a regular session of the Council for alcohol products turnover at Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers.

Opening the session, Tatarstan Prime Minister thanked everyone for well-coordinated work during Universiade 2013. No cases of poisoning by counterfeit alcohol were found due to the intensified control by the supervision bodies, heads of Tatarstan municipalities during the event, he said.

During the session, Ildar Khalikov noted positive reduction tendency in alcohol sales in the region and at the same time expressed his concern about the presence of counterfeit products at the legal alcoholic beverage market.

Heads of Tatarstan Ministry of Interior, Tatarstan Department of Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health Control Service, Regional State Alcohol Inspection made reports on this issue.

Ildar Khalikov focused on direct relation between reduction in alcohol sales and increase in cases of poisoning by counterfeit alcohol. Besides, he criticized those municipal regions, where cases of children and teenage poisoning by alcohol were revealed.

Summing up, Tatarstan Prime Minister asked Ministries and Departments responsible for the alcoholic beverage market to join their efforts to reduce illegal sales of alcohol and noted that this issue is urgent for all Russian regions and can be solved only by mutual efforts of law-enforcement agencies, municipalities, community and mass media.
