The Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna presents the Order of Saint Anna to Mintimer Shaimiev

On November 12 Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev met with Head of Russian Imperial House, the Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna at Kazan Kremlin. The Grand Duchess has already visited the island town of Sviyazhsk. She was very interested in the project of revival of the ancient town of Bolgar and island town of Sviyazhsk. Mintimer Shaimiev told her about history of two towns, reconstruction works, and activity of Regional fund of revival of historical and cultural monuments.
Late on, the guest and Mintimer Shaimiev discussed other issues, including political situation in Russia. During the conversation Maria Vladimirovna thanked Tatarstan leadership for keeping the balance between confessions.
Mintimer Shaimiev invited the Grand Duchess to visit Bolgar in summer and see the world’s largest printed Koran.
Participants of the meeting also discussed summer Universiade 2013 that was held in Kazan.
The Grand Duchess thanked Mintimer Shaimiev for warm reception and presented the orders and badge of merit. In particular, she presented the Order of Saint Anna, medal “Jubilee of National heroic deed 1613-2013” and medal “In memory of 400th anniversary of Romanov House. 1613-2013”.
Mintimer Shaimiev, in his turn, presented a book about the Kazan icon of the Mother of God and a doll in Tatar costume.
After the meeting the guests went to Annunciation Cathedral and Kazan Kremlin.
During her visit to Kazan the Grand Duchess will also visit Kazan federal university and meet with Kazan Mayor.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
