Prospects of Kazan Federal University till 2020 discussed at session of University Guardian Council

On November 12 Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Education and Science Engel Fattakhov, Minister of Health Adel Vafin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov took part in a session of Guardian Council of Kazan Federal University.
The session was dedicated to implementation of the programme on increasing competitiveness of the University among leading research and educational centres for 2013-2020.
Rustam Minnikhanov told that participants of the session had visited new campus, academic and laboratory building of the Institute of fundamental medicine and biology, and the Institute of geology and petroleum technologies.
Opening the session, Ilshat Gafurov said that a final session of the Council on increasing competitiveness of Russian leading universities among world’s research and educational centres was held by Russian Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Levanov on October 26. Kazan Federal University was one of the universities approved by the Council. The agreement between federal ministry and Kazan Federal University is to be signed in the nearest future.
Ilshat Gafurov believes that the university may become a driver of economic and innovative growth of the republic.
Among priority areas of the university are biomedicine and pharmacy, non-conventional materials, oil production and processing, petrochemistry, information, communication and space technologies.
Two agreements, between Kazan Federal University, OAO “Alfa Bank” and Samsung were signed at the session.
Ilshat Gafurov also suggested including Minister of Education and Science Engel Fattakhov, Minister of Information and Communication Roman Shaikhutdinov and Minister of Health Adel Vafin in the Guardian Council.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
