Session of Russia-Turkey Public Forum held in Kazan

On November 13 a session of Russia-Turkey Public Forum was held in Kazan. To the point, the forum was established in accordance with results of the first session of High-Level Russian-Turkish Cooperation Council and the order of Russian President and Turkish Prime Minister. Russia-Turkey Public Forum is a platform for discussing new ways and formats of cooperation and recommendations on strengthening Russian-Turkish cooperation, including relations between civil societies of both countries.

The session that opened today in Kazan is the first one within the framework of the forum from the moment of its establishment. The event aims at developing public relations and understanding between two countries in a number of areas, including culture and art, education and science, mass media, business relations, tourism, interreligious dialogue, law, etc.

More than 100 representatives of Russian and Turkish scientific, cultural, business communities, public organizations, and leaders of governmental and non-governmental organizations are taking part in the forum.

Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Commission on foreign affairs of Grand National Assembly of Turkey Volkan Bozkir, Russian President's Special Representative for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi, Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov took part in a solemn opening ceremony.

The session began with a minute’s silence in memory of those who died in Boeing 737 crash at Kazan international airport on November, 17.

Welcoming participants of the session, Tatarstan Prime-Minister thanked for choosing Kazan to host the forum. According to him, it is of special importance that the event is held on the threshold of a session of High-Level Russian-Turkish Cooperation Council to be held in Saint-Petersburg on November,22.

Two memorandums of cooperation between Hayat Holding and Sberbank and between Coskunoz Alabuga and Sberbank were signed today. To the point, both companies are implementing projects at SEZ “Alabuga”.
