Economist Abel Aganbegyan delivers lecture on social and economic situation in Russia and development prospects at Tatarstan Government House

On December 4 a famous Russian economist Abel Aganbegyan delivered a lecture on social and economic situation in Russia and development prospects at Tatarstan Government House. Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov took part in the event.
Economist and academician Abel Aganbegyan is an acknowledged expert in the sphere of theoretical and applied economics, one of authors of the concept of economic reformation of the society, the author of books and articles about market reforms.
Abel Aganbegyan started his lecture from describing the global economic crisis of 2008 and the impact it had on Russia. He reminded that of 20 leading countries most badly the crisis affected Russia. Russia’s GDP decreased. There was also a fall in foreign economic turnover by 40 per cent, and investments by 17 per cent. Federal budget income decreased from 9.3 to 5.4 bln rubles.
According to Abel Aganbegyan, the crisis was plagued by certain factors, one of which is a high inflation rate. Moreover, industrial enterprises took foreign investment loans for development and modernization.
Abel Aganbegyan mentioned that lately there was a sharp decrease in inflow of investments in the country, and capital outflow followed by decrease in expert proceeds.
Abel Aganbegyan believes that the reason of capital outflow is debts of corporate economic sector and the old material and technical base of national economy.
The academician dwelled on prospects of educational, health care, and social spheres.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
