Mintimer Shaimiev meets with Sheikh Muhammad Abu al-Fath al- Bayanouni

On May 21, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev met with Sheikh Muhammad Abu al-Fath al-Bayanouni from Syria.
To the point, Muhammad Abu al-Fath al-Bayanouni is one of the outstanding religious figures of the Islamic world, famous representative of Hanafi School of Theology from Syria, author of a number of works on Islamic law and call. Currently, he is a lecturer of the Faculty of Islamic law and Islamic Studies at the Al-Kuwait University. Before the Syrian crisis, he had given lessons at the University of Damascus.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mintimer Shaimiev congratulated everybody on the Day of Official Adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria. He told the guest about the history of adoption of Islam in Bolgar, current development of Islam in Tatarstan and the activities of the Regional Fund “Revival”.
Muhammad Abu al-Fath al-Bayanouni noted that he knows about the project of revival of Muslim sanctuary and efforts of Tatarstan citizens to make Bolgar the center of attraction of Russian Muslims and traditional Islam training. He became interested in the activity of Imam refresher training center that is being established at Ak mechet (White Mosque) complex and expressed his will to teach at the center.
Rector of Russian Islamic University Rafik Mukhametshin, who took part in the meeting, noted that the process of establishing Muslim education system is underway in the republic and a lack of qualified and experience specialists, who could not only teach, but become authority for younger generation of religious figures, is one of the problems. We do need teachers recognized by the Muslim world for this purpose, he said.
Issues of further development of Islamic education in the republic were also discussed at the meeting.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
