Mintimer Shaimiev and ambassadors of Islamic states visit Sabantui celebrations in Laishevo

On June 7, Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev and heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states – participants of VI International economic summit of Russia and OIC countries Kazansummit 2014, including ambassadors of Algeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Irak, Oman and Bahrain visited Sabantui celebrations in Laishevo region (the Republic of Tatarstan). The guests looked around stalls of craftsmen, and took part in solemn opening of the celebrations.
Participants of the event were told about the national Tatar holiday in three languages, - Russian, Tatar, and English. The guests saw performances of famous dance groups and singers.
Mintimer Shaimiev noted that every year Sabantui is celebrated in Laishevo region, as well as Russian national holiday Karavon. He thanked local dwellers for living in peace and harmony. He presented Commendation of Tatarstan President and Letters of gratitude of Regional foundation of the revival of cultural and historical monuments to dwellers of Laishevo region.
Foreign guests were very impressed by the event. Ambassador of Bahrain to Russia Hashim Hasan Al-Bash said that when he arrived in Kazan, he noticed two things – the beauty of the area, and hospitality of local people.

On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.

On 24 April in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin held a joint meeting the Council for Enforcement of Legislation of Languages of Tatarstan and the organizational committee for celebrations of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay which summarized results of work of the regional law enforcement on official languages of the republic and considered progress of the implementation of the plan of main events for preparation and celebration of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay .
