On June 12, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Aide to Tatarstan President Olesya Baltusova, Minister of Construction Irek Faizullin, and Minister of Culture Airat Sibagatullin visited newly constructed and reconstructed objects in the historic center of Kazan.

The first object they went to was house number 3 in Gabdulla Tukai street, the property of the Spiritual Muslim Department. The building has no historic or architectural value, so specialists recommend building a new house here. Thus, Tatarstan President asked architects to work out new design offers.

Representatives of ASG company reported on results of reconstruction work of several historic buildings in Tukai street, including the new house number 11.

The Galeev Mosque, the architectural monument built in 1798, needs to be reconstructed. It was noted that 23 million roubles were allocated under “Miras” regional programme, however, more money is required. In this regard, Rustam Minnikhanov addressed Head of the Spiritual Muslim Department Kamil Samigullin with request to search for sponsors.

Participants of the event also visited the house of merchant Bigaev in Parizhskaya Komunna street that was reconstructed at the expense of the Ministry of Forestry.

Rustam Minnikhanov was offered to build an administrative and business centre at the corner of Tatarstan and Moskovskaya streets. The President supported the idea.

While visiting a new building number 14 in Tatarstan street , where Gabdulla Tukai spent his last years, Rustam Minnikhanov addressed OAO Tatneft, the building’s owner, and the Ministry of Culture to fit out a memorial room of the great Tatar poet.

The last object visited by Rustam Minnikhanov was the city polyclinic number 5, where Minister of Health Adel Vafin told about reconstruction plans.
