Rustam Minnikhanov pays a working visit to Turkmenistan

On June 29, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a one-day working visit, was met by Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meridov at the Ashgabat International Airport.

Upon arrival, Rustam Minnikhanov headed for the Oguzkhan Palace (Ashgabat, Turkmenistan) to meet with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues on the development of trade and economic relations between Turkmenistan and Tatarstan. Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for his visit and noted that trade and economic as well as scientific and technical relations between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan are successfully developing. Besides, Tatarstan and Turkmenistan have strengthened the cooperation in the oil and gas sector as well as civil aviation industry.

Turkmenistan President emphasized successful cooperation in the field of education. "We can now proudly say that 900 students from Turkmenistan study at Tatarstan higher educational institutions in different areas. This year, 22 graduates will obtain diplomas of higher education and will work in different cities of the country," Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also reminded that one of the largest cities of Turkmenistan, Mary city, will be the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2015, taking the baton from Kazan. Rustam Minnikhanov, in his turn, appreciated the dynamic development of Turkmenistan’s economy. According to him, successful development and prosperity of the country is the result of the systematic work. Tatarstan President noted that completely new trends applied in Turkmenistan in the field of hydrocarbon production will give good results and have a beneficial effect on further economic development of the country.

Rustam Minnikhanov wished Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov success and prosperity of the country.
