On July 14, during his working trip to Uruguay, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Zonamerica Free Trade Zone.

Zonamerica's Vice President Isidoro Odara  and Technopark Development Manager Leonardo Bonilla made a presentation for the Tatarstan delegation at the Celebra Building.

Founded in 1990, Zonamerica is located in Montevideo, 10 minutes away from Carrasco Airport and 20 minutes from Montevideo port. Being the economic capital of Mercosur (South American Common Market), Zonamerica is the largest business park in South America, which houses about 300 companies. Offices of Merrill Lynch, Bank of Canada, Sabre Holdings, Watson Wyatt, Price Waterhouse Coopers, and Citigroup, as well as more than 50 family offices and financial companies are located there. The spheres of activity of the tenants cover logistics, financial services, computer technology, call-centers, regional offices, biotechnology, consulting and trade.

Rustam Minnikhanov, in his turn, presented projects on establishing special economic zones in Tatarstan, such as SEZ "Alabuga", "Innopolis", "Smart City Kazan". We will be glad to learn the experience of the Uruguayan free zones, because we regard industrial and innovation parks as drivers of economic growth, he said. While visiting the world innovation centers, we integrate advanced foreign practices and apply them in Tatarstan, the President said.

Prospects of exchanging experience and specialists between the special economic zones and investment platforms of the regions were also discussed at the meeting.
