Rustam Minnikhanov visits Zonamerica Free Trade Zone

On July 14, during his working trip to Uruguay, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Zonamerica Free Trade Zone.
Zonamerica's Vice President Isidoro Odara and Technopark Development Manager Leonardo Bonilla made a presentation for the Tatarstan delegation at the CelebraBuilding.
Founded in 1990, Zonamerica is located in Montevideo, 10 minutes away from Carrasco Airport and 20 minutes from Montevideo port. Being the economic capital of Mercosur (South American Common Market), Zonamerica is the largest business park in South America, which houses about 300 companies. Offices of Merrill Lynch, Bank of Canada, Sabre Holdings, Watson Wyatt, Price Waterhouse Coopers, and Citigroup, as well as more than 50 family offices and financial companies are located there. The spheres of activity of the tenants cover logistics, financial services, computer technology, call-centers, regional offices, biotechnology, consulting and trade.
Rustam Minnikhanov, in his turn, presented projects on establishing special economic zones in Tatarstan, such as SEZ "Alabuga", "Innopolis", "Smart City Kazan". We will be glad to learn the experience of the Uruguayan free zones, because we regard industrial and innovation parks as drivers of economic growth, he said. While visiting the world innovation centers, we integrate advanced foreign practices and apply them in Tatarstan, the President said.
Prospects of exchanging experience and specialists between the special economic zones and investment platforms of the regions were also discussed at the meeting.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
