Medal of International Fair Play Committee granted to Tatarstan President

On July 19, at the Kazan Kremlin, before gala Fair Play event, President of International Fair Play Committee Jenő Kamuti granted the medal of the Committee toTatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
Awards of the International Committee will be awarded to people, who made considerable contribution to promotion of fair play principles in sport last year.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Jenő Kamuti for giving him such a privilege and assured him that Tatarstan leadership will always put much emphasis on development of sport and promotion of fair play principles in sport.
The International Fair Play Committee is a non-governmental organization founded in 1963 by UNESCO, World Council of Physical Education and Sport Science (SIEPSS), International Sport Press Association (AIPS) and a famous French tennis player of 1920s Jean Borotra.
The Committee includes 130 member societies (national Olympic committees, including Russian Olympic Committee, international sports federations), and individual members. The managing board consists of General Assembly and Administrative Council (30 members).
Main activities of the Committee are promotion of fair play principles in sport and annual presentation of awards. Fair Play Award is the so-called Code of ethics of sports community and is granted to sportsmen, heads of sports organizations, employees of media agencies, fans for showing nobility in sport, promotion of humanism, high moral principles in sport and life, rejection of all forms of violence against competitors, and charity activities.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.

On 24 April in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin held a joint meeting the Council for Enforcement of Legislation of Languages of Tatarstan and the organizational committee for celebrations of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay which summarized results of work of the regional law enforcement on official languages of the republic and considered progress of the implementation of the plan of main events for preparation and celebration of the 140th birthday of Gabdulla Tukay .
