Address of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov to Muslims of Tatarstan on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr
27 July 2014, Sunday
Dear Tatarstan citizens! Dear compatriots!
From the bottom of my heart I congratulate you on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr!
Ramadan is the month of fasting, a time when all the attention and care are focused on improving the soul and strengthening the faith, when the intentions to support fellow creatures and help those in need are truly pure.
Adherence to these eternal and inviolable values affords an opportunity for moral purification and renewal, gives people the hope in the future through the realization of their actions and deeds, promotes mutual understanding. The words of Muhammad are deeply symbolic: "Allah is kind and like kindness. He confers upon kindness which He does not confer upon severity. "
Tatarstan boasts unique religious traditions that contribute to preservation of our national identity and stronger moral principles of the society and the unity of believers. I am confident that the Muslims of the republic, living in concord with representatives of all traditional religions of Tatarstan, will continue to play an active role in the process of spiritual renovation, strengthening of friendship and understanding.
May Eid al-Fitr bring all Muslims warmth, joy and kindness. I sincerely wish you good health, peace and prosperity!
