Head of Tatarstan government Rustam Minnikhanov held meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Korea to Russian Federation Mr Lee Kyu Hyung

RT Prime Minister Rustam Minnikhanov held meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Korea to Russian Federation Mr Lee Kyu Hyung in House of Tatarstan government.

RT Minister of industry and trade Ravil Zaripov, State Counselor under RT President on international issues Timur Akulov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin took part in the meeting.

Delegation of Republic of Korea headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Korea to Russian Federation Mr  Lee Kyu Hyung arrived in Tatarstan on June, 6, 2009. The delegation also includes Minister Plenipotentiary of Embassy on economic issues Li Chzhon Cook, Counsellor of embassy on economic issues Khan Seong Chin.

By words of Aide to Prime Minister on foreign economic activity Iskander Mouflikhanov, Mr Lee Kyu Hyung noted economic, industrial and educational potential of Tatarstan.

Head of Tatarstan government offered Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Korea to Russian Federation organizing the visit of Korean businessmen representatives to Tatarstan to get acquainted with republican potential.

Guests visited special economic zone “Alabuga”, Kazan State University, took part in ceremony of opening the festival of Korean culture in Kazan, national holiday “Sabantui”, business forum and presentation of industrial and trade-economic potential of Tatarstan.

According to results of 2008 foreign trade turnover of Republic Tatarstan and Republic of Korea made 350 mln. dollars. It 1,3 time more than in 2007 (export increased 4,4 times, import – 1,3 times).
According to results of 2008 Republic of Korea took the 18 place among the countries - trade partners of Tatarstan.
The basis of RT export is delivery of rubber resin, rubber and production made of them (99,4 % of all export from Tatarstan to Korea).
