On September 24, in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met Board Chairman of Doğuş Holding (Turkey) Mr. Ferit Şahenk.
Rustam Minnikhanov showed interest in developing cooperation with the Doğuş Company, noting rapidly growing trade and economic relations with Turkey. “Your country is one of the leading foreign partners of Tatarstan and ranks first in terms of joint foreign-owned ventures, working in the republic,” Rustam Minnikhanov said. Tatarstan President reminded that a quarter of all foreign investments in Tatarstan comes from Turkey.
Mr. Ferit Şahenk, in his turn, thanked the Tatarstan delegation for the warm welcome. “This is our first visit to Kazan and we are impressed with this beautiful city,” he said. According to him, the Doğuş Company has serious intentions of implementing joint projects with Tatarstan.
The Doğuş Group comprises about 180 companies. The Group holds strong positions in the financial sector, has its own banks in Turkey, runs media properties and develops a tourism business. Mr. Şahenk said that he sees good opportunities for joint business projects, especially in the construction and tourist fields.
Summing up, the parties expressed their hope for mutually beneficial cooperation.
Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov, Aide to Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov, Minister of Construction, Architecure, and Housing and Utilities Services of the republic Irek Faizullin, Chief Executive of Tatarstan Ivestment Development Agency and other officials took part in the meeting.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
On May 14, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the events of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, was met by Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials at the Kazan International Airport.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
