Rustam Minnikhanov: “If we do not support rural areas, we will lose our foundation”

On October 7, a solemn reception on behalf of Tatarstan President on the occasion of the Day of agriculture and processing industry workers was held in Kazan.
Best workers and managers of agricultural enterprises and businesses, ministries and agencies of the Republic of Tatarstan, and State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev took part in the event.
Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated everyone on coming holiday and noted that the beginning of the year was not easy for agricultural industry. “Allah helped us, and hard work of agricultural workers helped us providing the republic with grain and vegetables. Our results in meat, milk, and beetroot production are quite good,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan President expressed special gratitude to veterans of the industry, who stood at the origins of formation of the powerful agricultural industry.
Rustam Minnikhanov continued that current geopolitical situation and sanctions against Russia should be the competitive advantage for domestic agricultural market.
“Villagers make up the foundation of our state. If we do not support rural areas, we will lose it,” Rustam Minnikhanov said. He also noted that main federal and regional programmes implemented in Tatarstan are aimed at supporting rural areas.
“Regional leadership has always supported agricultural industry,” the President added.
Also, Rustam Minnikhanov handed awards to best workers of agricultural industry.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
On May 14, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the events of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, was met by Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials at the Kazan International Airport.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
