29 October 2014, Wednesday
On October 29, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Aide to the President of Russia Andrei Fursenko took part in a solemn commissioning of the first technological line for production of a carrier for microspheric catalysts for dehydration of isoparaffins at the Nizhnekamskneftekhim.
The project was implemented together with specialists of the Nizhnekamskneftekhim and scientists of Kazan Federal University in accordance with the Russian government decree No. 218 of 09.04.2014 "On measures of state support for developing cooperation between Russian institutions of higher education and the organizations that implement integrated projects aimed at creating high technology production" under the import substitution programme.
About 2,400 tonnes of catalysts CDI-M used to dehydrate isobutane into isobutylene will be produced annually at the new production facility. Like any other catalyst of petrochemical processes, this catalyst is one of the most important products used in the production of isoprene rubber.
The Nizhnekamskneftekhim and Kazan Federal University have been in fruitful cooperation in the field of development of new efficient catalytic systems since 2000. As a result of cooperation, isoamylenes and isoparaffins dehydration catalysts to substitute their import analogues have been introduced at the company’s production facilities.
The development of catalysts for selective hydration of acetylene hydrocarbons contained in the ethane-ethylene fraction of the ethylene plant is at its finishing stage.
