First Vice-President of Cuba: “The visit of Tatarstan delegation is an important moment in our relations”

On November 2, during his two-day visit to Cuba, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met First Vice-President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel and Deputy Chairman of Cuban Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas.
“Considering close relations, cooperation and friendship between our countries I am so glad to see you in Cuba. There are a lot of graduates of Tatarstan universities living in Cuba. They are good specialists and they have nice memories about your repubilc. Also, Tatarstan has become renowned for KAMAZ trucks."
Your visit is important for our relations. Relations between Russia and Cuba are at high political and economic level. However, it can always be improved,” First Vice-President of Cuba said.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Miguel Diaz-Canel for the meeting: “We appreciate the opportunity to develop relations between the Republic of Tatarstan and Cuba within the framework of Russia-Cuba relations.”
The main purpose of the visit of the Tatarstan delegation is participation in the 32nd Havana International Fair (FIHAV), where the republic will present its exposition.
The Tatarstan delegation consists of ministers, heads of the biggest enterprises – OAO “KAMAZ” Automobile Corporation , OAO “Tatneft” Oil Company, and OAO “Kazan helicopters”.
“We had a very good detailed meeting, discussed prospects of cooperation in a few areas. We should use the potential of our major enterprises,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
Tatarstan President also noted that cooperation can be developed in health care industry. He congratulated Cuban doctors on successful results in fighting Ebola fever.
On 9 June upon his arrival to the Kazan International Airport, the Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov was welcomed by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin.
In Kazan Sergey Lavrov will take part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of State-Participants of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
On 5 May, speaking at a regular meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin informed that currently 63 school catering units are under repairs with the amount of work completed reaching 15 per cent.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
