Tatarstan and Czech Republic sign memorandum of intentions on production of machine tools in Alabuga Special Economic Zone

On November 6, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade and Board Chairman of a Czech company "ALTA” Vladimir Plashil signed a memorandum of intentions to localize production of metal-working machines in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone.

The document was signed in the presence of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Jan Mládek.

The delegation of the Czech Republic is on an official visit to Tatarstan on November 5-7. The guests visited a number of large enterprises, including OAO "Tatkhimpharmpreparaty" pharmaceutical company, OAO "Kazan Helicopters" plant in Kazan, took part in a round table at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and watched ice hockey match between veterans of Czech and Tatarstan teams.

In his interview to journalists Jan Mládek said that he liked Kazan very much and was also impressed by the economic achievements large industrial enterprises of the republic had made. "We hope that we will develop mutually beneficial cooperation ", he said.

Answering questions from the press, Governor of the South Moravian region Michal Hašek said that Tatarstan is the leading region in Russia, and the South Moravian region is striving to have the same indexes. He told about plans to work closely with Tatarstan in the field of engineering, education, and also in the field of information based on new technologies. "We can offer a unique project - an integrated transport system. This is quite a successful and worthy of attention project," Michal Hašek said.

"We have many areas for cooperation. Four documents have been signed at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry  today and a memorandum related to a very important area – machine-tool building has just been signed at the Kazan Kremlin. Today we can say that Tatarstan is an engineering region, and our competitiveness will depend on what kind of machine-tool park we have,” Minnikhanov said.

According to him, Czech partners offer favourable conditions in this area. "We will continue our cooperation in promising areas of cooperation," Tatarstan President summed up.
