Rustam Minnikhanov: There is no alternative to the current plan of hazardous housing resettlement

22 November 2014, Saturday
On November 22, speaking at a weekly video conference, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the current plan of hazardous housing resettlement involving low-cost mortgage applied in Tatartsan is the only way to fix the problem.

Tatarstan Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Utilities Services Irek Faizullin, who took part in the meeting, reported that 830 agreements to buy out the residence for a total rehousing area of 32,012 square meters under the 2013 programme and 439 agreements for 15,345 square meters under the 2014 programme had been submitted to the ministry so far.

“Hazardous housing is a very important issue,” Tatarstan President said. “On the one hand, they are our people, they live in extremely unfavourable conditions but, on the other, there is a lack of federal budget funds, and if people refuse now we will not be able to help them at all later.”

Rustam Minnikhanov asked to explain the owners of the hazardous housing how the low-cost mortgage mechanism works.
