Kazan metro and airport are Russia’s most accessible facilities for people with disabilities

On November 25, at a briefing of Tatarstan Cabinet of Ministers on the upcoming ten-day event for people with disabilities scheduled to start on December 3, it was said that the Kazan metro and international airport are Russia's most accessible facilities for people with disabilities.
Speaking at the meeting, Tatarstan Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Elmira Zaripova said that this year the number of buildings and social facilities adjusted for people with disabilities would grow up to 131. In 2015, the number of adjusted pharmacies, cinemas and houses will reach 151.
As of today, 82 per cent of cultural facilities, 76 per cent of healthcare facilities and 53 per cent of social security and employment centres have been adjusted. Thirty two per cent of vocational training buildings have been equipped with access ramps and other means disabled people need.
According to Zaripova the Kazan metro and international airport are the most accessible facilities for people with disabilities in Russia for the moment.
By and large, 4,000 facilities have been adjusted to ensure convenience for disabled people, the Minister concluded.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
