Dmitry Medvedev holds meeting in Naberezhnye Chelny on measures to support the Russian automotive market

On December 2, in Naberezhnye Chelny, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a meeting chaired by Russia’s Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on measures to support the Russian automotive market.

Opening the meeting, Medvedev said that the current situation in the Russian automotive market is unstable, with all segments having negative production and sales dynamics.

Medvedev said that the country's leadership has taken some measures to support the domestic automotive industry. In particular, two programmes to stimulate growth in demand for cars were launched. According to one of them regions will receive subsidies from the federal budget for the needs of housing and utilities sector to purchase buses and equipment that use natural gas. The second programme aimed at promoting sales will allow buyers to get a discount in case they scrap or trade in their old cars.
