Mintimer Shaimiev: “We have enough experience to bring Sviyazhsk to a new level”

On December 11, Tatarstan State Counsellor, Chairman of the Board of guardians of Regional Foundation of the Revival of historical and cultural monuments Mintimer Shaimiev held a session at the Kazan Kremlin where he spoke about inscription of Bolgar in UNESCO World Heritage List this year. “It ihas been hard work for all of us. We have gained a unique experience implementing this project,” he said.
According to Shaimiev, complicated work that requires professional skills is carried out in Sviyazhsk, and there are extensive plans on museumification of the island town. He noted that Sviyazhsk is becoming a very attractive place, but there is much to be done. Special attention should be paid to reconstruction of the Assumption Cathedral.
Tatarstan Deputy Minister of Culture Svetlana Persova, who took part in the meeting, dwelled on main areas of the programme, in particular on comprehensive research work conducted with regards to the Assumption Cathedral and Trinity Church.
Head of Zelenodolsk region Aleksandr Tygin told about execution of requirements of state protection, preservation, and promotion of Sviyazhsk. He said that preparations for New Year celebrations are currently taking place in the town.
Chairman of Tatarstan State Committee on Tourism Sergey Ivanov told that a record number of tourists visited Sviyazhsk this year – 179, 000 people. Also, Sviyazhsk is being globally promoted. However, there are some problems connected with providing catering services. Ivanov suggested developing signature dishes for Sviyazhsk. Also, there is a need for first-aid station, car park, qualified tour, video and audio guides, he said.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
