On December 25, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov handed in Tatarstan state awards in the field of science and technology.

Welcoming the audience, Minnikhanov noted this year’s winners were eminent scientists, professors, and chiefs and staff members of leading research institutions and production plants.

“The state and society today expect our scientists to increase the independent of domestic science and ensure high quality of research. It is gratifying that the interaction between the science and real sector of economy increases year to year. Tatneft Oil Company activities are a vivid example of that,” he said.

Minnikhanov reminded that two large projects developed by Tatarstan oil scientists were given the state award.

“The recognition needs to become another incentive for the oil scientists in supporting and developing applied and fundamental projects,” Tatarstan President said.

The problem of reclaiming oil-polluted land is urgent for the regional oil industry. Local scientists proposed new safe and cost-effective technologies allowing to reduce the reclaiming time 3-4 times. “The technologies now need to be implemented,” he continued.

Two teams working in healthcare and medicine were given the Tatarstan state award as well. “The branch has at all times been the top priority in Tatarstan, an object of systemic financial and intellectual investment,” Rustam Minnikhanov said, recalling that 20 years before Tatarstan scientists had implemented magnetic resonance therapy methods, allowing for effective diagnostics and treatment of some severe diseases and reducing the examination time.

“The nominated project on implementing a lean manufacturing method has been approved as well. I am sure the future of our economy belongs to it,” Minnikhanov added.

Tatarstan President thanked the winners for their contribution to the domestic science and proceeded to handing in the awards.
