Tatarstan and Kazakhstan to expand military-technical cooperation

On December 29, at the meeting  with  Kazakhstan Minister of Defence Imangali Tasmagambetov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov discussed the issues related to further expanding military-technical cooperation between Tatarstan and Kazakhstan.

Tatarstan President said, “Kazakhstan and Tatarstan have a long history of military and industrial cooperation to be expanded in the future. One of the new  areas is cooperation in the field of Information Technology to be in great demand in the armed forces”.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade Ravil Zaripov  offered Kazakh side  to consider the opportunity of purchasing remotely- piloted vehicles to be made in Kazan.

In his turn, Kazakhstan Minister of Defence Imangali Tasmagambetov said that his republic is interested in cooperation with OAO KAMAZ truck-maker, Gorky Zelenodolsk shipbuilding plant, training Kazakhstan specialists in Kazan in the shipbuilding field, Kazan helicopters plant, and Kazan Powder Mill.

The sides agreed to create joint working groups to examine the potential of Tatarstan enterprises and define the areas for further collaboration.
