Rustam Minnikhanov: Construction of new hotel complex will make Bolgar more attractive for tourists

On April 27, at a ceremony dedicated to start of construction of a hotel complex in Bolgar (the Republic of Tatarstan), Acting President of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov said that construction of new hotel complex will make Bolgar more attractive for tourists.
State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Chief of Staff of Tatarstan President’s Administration Asgat Safarov, Director General of OAO “Tatneft” Nail Maganov, Director General of OAO “TAIF” Albert Shigabutdinov took part in the event.
The new complex will be located on the bank of the Volga River, on the border of the historic part of Bolgar.
Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov said that for five years of work of the “Revival” Foundation, the ancient town of Bolgar and island town of Sviyazhsk have gained a new status and become main sights of Tatarstan. The tourist flow has increased three times.
Minnikhanov noted that large-scale works were done due to support за the first Tatarstan President Mintimer Shaimiev and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Investors of the project were major oil companies of the republic.
The hotel complex should become a masterpiece of architectural art. Different official and festive events will be held there.
Mintimer Shaimiev said that the inclusion of Bolgar in UNESCO World Heritage List lays responsibility on Tatarstan. He noted that people from all over the world come to see Muslim sacred place, and they can hardly see all monuments for one day. Therefore, construction of the hotel complex is very important.
“Construction works will start in tough economic times. However, it be finished in two years,” Mintimer Shaimiev said.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
