Rustam Minnikhanov opens Armstrong plant in SEZ “Alabuga”

On June 9, Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and President of Armstrong World Industries Matt Espe took part in opening of Armstrong plant in Specialized Economic Zone “Alabuga” (the Republic of Tatarstan).
According to the information provided by Armstrong company, total sum of investments in construction of the new plant made 3.6 billion roubles, the production capacity – more than 20 million square metres of ceiling panels per year. The products are to be sold in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Speaking at the ceremony, Rustam Minnikhanov said that opening of this plant is very important for the republic and the whole country.
Minnikhanov expressed his special gratitude to American investors: “Thank you for believing in this project and us. A modern enterprise that will produce 20 million square metres of high quality products has been built for a short time. I hope it is just the beginning of our cooperation.”
Rustam Minnikhanov added that regional leadership will continue rendering assistance to Armstrong World Industries in implementation of new projects.
Matt Espe, in his turn, thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for support in design and construction of the new enterprise, and employees of the plant, the Russian-American team. He reminded that Armstrong had cooperated with the republic before, and supplied ceiling panels during construction of Universiade venues and some medical organizations.
“Tatarstan has a bright future. It is the leading region of Russia, with one of the most rapidly developing construction markets,” Matt Espe said.
After the official ceremony the guests looked around the plant. Rustam Minnikhanov was told about main stages of production of ceiling panels and most in-demand products in the Russian market.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
