On June 30, in Dublin, at his meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland – Co-Chairman of Intergovernmental Russian-Irish Committee on Business Development Seán Sherlock, Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of Ireland and Irish Embassy in Russia for arranging the visit and interesting programme.

“Ireland is a rapidly developing country. In recent years, you have significantly changed the structure of the economy and become investment-attractive, paying more attention to innovation. In general, all this makes Ireland a serious player in the global market, and we have something to learn here,” Minnikhanov said.

According to Minnikhanov, one of the tasks within the current visit is to establish direct contacts, find areas for further cooperation. We must move forward and work together on specific projects, he said.

“We need to look for opportunities for a mutually beneficial relationship”, Minnikhanov continued.

“The driving force of innovation, first of all, is science and education, universities and research centers and we can facilitate the work in terms of the exchange of students and teachers, as well as in terms of cooperation on research projects,” he said.

Minnikhanov offered Seán Sherlock to consider the possibility of holding a meeting of the Intergovernmental Russian-Irish Committee on Business Development in Kazan.

“We are open for cooperation and willing to share our experience - both in terms of innovation and other areas,” Minnikhanov summed up.
