Rustam Minnikhanov: “Federal Sabantui is an important event not only for Tatars”

On July 19, the 15th Federal Sabantui opened in Krasnoyarsk. The holiday was organized with the auspices of the Krasnoyarsk region and the Republic of Tatarstan. Festive celebrations dedicated to cultural traditions of the Tatar people started with a performance of artists from Tatarstan and Krasnoyarsk. Representatives of Tatar diaspora from 36 Russian regions, 500 artists from Tatarstan came to Krasnoyarsk to take part in the federal Sabantui.

Presentation of Chak-Chak, the Tatar national sweet dish, was the culmination of the performance.

Governor of the Krasnoyarsk region Viktor Tolokonsky and Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov delivered speeches at the event.
“Today Sabantui demonstrates great cultural traditions of the Tatar people, who live and work in different regions of our big Russia. It demonstrates friendship of all nations living in our country, when representatives of all cultures and religions drink tea together at one table. It is the great history and future,” Viktor Tolokonsky said. He thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for his help in organization of the federal Sabantui.

Later on the same day, the Governor handed over letters of gratitude to heads of Tatar public organizations of the Krasnoyarsk region.

Minnikhanov congratulated the distinguished guests on the holiday and thanked leadership of the region for work on preservation of the national identity of Tatars living in the region.

Talking to journalists, Minnikhanov said that it was the biggest and well-organized federal Sabantui. In his opinion, it is the most important holiday of Tatars that unites and preserves traditions of the Tatar people living in different corners of our country and the world.

Minnikhanov handed over Letters of gratitude of the Tatarstan President to members of the public organization of regional Tatar national and cultural autonomy of the Krasnoyarsk region “Yar”.
