Rustam Minnikhanov opens FordSollers in SEZ “Alabuga”

On September 3, Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in official opening of Russia’s first Ford engine plant FordSollers in Specialized Economic Zone “Alabuga” (Yelabuga, Tatarstan). Before the official opening, Rustam Minnikhanov looked around the plant.
While earlier, all engines for foreign cars were imported from abroad, now FordSollers Alabuga will produce engines for Ford plants in Russia. 1,6 Ti-VCT Sigma for Ford Focus, EcoSport, and Fiesta will be the first engine produced in Alabuga.
At the first stage the plant will produce 105, 000 engines per year. The amount of investments in the new plant made 275 mln dollars.
According to FordSollers first vice-president Adil Shirinov, 95 per cent of the plant workers are from Naberezhnye Chelny and Yelabuga. Many of them passed training at Ford plants abroad.
Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Aleksandr Morozov, who took part in the ceremony, said that this event shows the investment attractiveness of Tatarstan as well as the result of joint work of investors and Russian and Tatarstan leadership.
FordSollers President Mark Ovenden thanked Rustam Minnikhanov and Aleksandr Morozov for supporting the project.
“The world-class engines will be produced at the world-class plant in the heart of Russia, and Russian components and materials will be used there. Russian automotive industry is experiencing tough times, but we are sure that our project will be successful with the support of Russian and Tatarstan leadership,” Mark Ovenden said.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
