Rustam Minnikhanov answers questions of Kazan pupils

On September 9, Interim President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with upper-form pupils of the school №146 in Kazan.
The pupils asked Rustam Minnikhanov about his criteria for choosing people for his team, and his favourite subjects at school.
Rustam Minnikhanov answered that he had worked as an engineer, power engineer, and in the sphere of consumer cooperation. “You are so young and you should try working in different spheres. Working in senior positions should not be your main goal. Everything will come in due course. Being the best in your sphere and being able to work in a team are more important things,” he said.
Rustam Minnikhanov noted that mathematics, physics and chemistry were his favourite subjects at school. “We live in an oil-producing region, and I regret that I did not study chemistry after school properly. Now I am trying to fill these gaps,” he added.
Also, Minnikhanov recommended learning foreign languages as it is a good competitive advantage. “If you ever have an opportunity to work abroad you will definitely need to know a foreign language,” he said.
Answering the question about Western sanctions against Russia, Rustam Minnikhanov said: “They want us to be isolated, and it is very bad. We need technologies and the access to cheap financial resources. We will not be able to deal with this situation without reforming the current economic system, which is based on raw materials of the country. Of course, we should develop high technologies, engineering and agricultural industry. We are a powerful petrochemical country. At the same time, a lot of polymers are imported from abroad. In the USSR we used to hold leading positions in oil production.”
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
