Tatarstan President takes part in a meeting of the government commission on import substitution in Sochi

On October 3, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a meeting of the government commission on import substitution held by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev during the International Investment Forum in Sochi.

The meeting participants discussed the role of Russian Federation entities in import substitution, as well as a plan of work of the government commission for 2015-2016.

Opening the meeting, Medvedev called the creation of modern production facilities in Russia but not artificial trade barriers the main purpose of import substitution.

According to Medvedev, an effective system of promoting non-raw material export is required for this purpose. He reminded that the law on establishing the Russian export center at Vnesheconombank to help enterprises to develop new markets in “single window mode” was adopted in June.

He also instructed ministries to help the regions to synchronize plans for import substitution and arrange the work on a wider awareness of the measures of state support.
