On October 21, at the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the opening of a plant of corrosion-resistant liquid coatings, 3M Volga.
The first phase of the 3M Volga project includes the production of liquid anti-corrosion coatings for the oil and gas industry (liquid epoxy and polyurethane coatings) in the amount of 2.5 mln. liters per year. The company plans to fully supply the Russian market with locally produced goods and make deliveries to the CIS.
"We appreciate that the leading global company has chosen the territory of our special economic zone," Minniknanov said.
Speaking at the meeting, General Director of 3M Rossia Robert Nichols said the decision to expand production capacity and investing in the construction of the plant in the Alabuga SEZ was made in 2012 under the long-term strategy of localization in Russia.
"Today we are launching the first line. In future, we plan to work on increasing production volumes and expanding the range of products," he said.
Nichols thanked Minnikhanov for his active collaboration in implementing the project. He expressed his confidence that their close cooperation will be continued and allow to achieve new results.
Then the honoured guests symbolically launched the plant and looked around a new production line.
