Bolgar Islamic Academy and Cathedral of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God to be established in Tatarstan

On November 4, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov signed a decree "On creation of the Bolgar Islamic Academy and reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God."

According to the decree, initiative of the centralized Muslim religious organizations of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, the Central Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan to establish a scientific, educational and spiritual Muslim center "Bolgar Islamic Academy" and the initiative of Tatarstan metropolitan of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) and city administration of Kazan to reconstruct the Cathedral of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God as part of the complex of the Kazan Mother of God Monastery were supported to preserve and promote traditional cultural values, strengthen inter-religious and inter-ethnic peace and harmony.
