Rustam Minnikhanov holds board session of “Tatneftekhiminvest-holding”

On December 15, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a board session of “Tatneftekhiminvest-holding” that discussed proposals for oil, gas and chemical industry of the republic.

Representatives of engineering innovation center “Inzhekhim” told about development of cyclopentane production technology. This chemical agent is used for producing urethane foam, and as a substitute freon in refrigerating equipment. Today almost all producers use cyclopentane. Russia does not produce cyclopentane  and it is imported from abroad. Upon the initiative of “Tatneftekhiminvest-holding” the technology for producing cyclopentane in Tatarstan is being developed. Rustam Minnikhanov addressed TAIF company with request to support the project.

Innovative products of Rockwool company for Tatarstan petrochemical industry were presented at the session. In 2012, the company launched production of thermal insulation materials in Alabuga Specialized Economic Zone (Yelabuga, Tatarstan), the biggest plant of Rockwool group in the world.

However, according to a representative of the company, “old” thinking that consists in choosing cheaper materials by a contractor impedes the project implementation. Materials that have been used since 80s appear to be more expensive because of the heat loss.  

Director General of “Tatneftekhiminvest-holding” Rafinat Yarullin told about the experience of Qatar in the sphere of oil and gas processing.
