Mintimer Shaimiev about Asgat Galimzyanov: “We are proud that such a man lived among us”

On January 4, Kazan said farewell to the great Tatarstan benefactor Asgat Galimzyanov, who died on January 3 at the age of 80. A civil funeral service was held in the hall of the Cultural Center of the Ministry of the Interior of the republic.  

Tatarstan State Counsellor  Mintimer Shaimiev, First Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Alexei Pesoshin, members of Tatarstan Government, representatives of Staff of Tatarstan President's Office, Tatarstan State Council, Kazan City Duma, representatives of public organizations, educational and social institutions came to bid farewell to Asgat Galimzyanov.

Opening the mourning event, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Protection of the republic Elmira Zaripova expressed her condolences to relatives of the deceased and to all who came today to bid farewell to the legendary benefactor:

"Asgat Galimzyanovich was a bright and wonderful man. He helped people throughout his life, without asking anything for himself," she said. She reminded some basic facts from the biography of the legendary benefactor.                                           

Speaking at the mourning event, Shaimiev called Asgat Galimzyanov a holy man, a phenomenon, a personality, who devoted his life to the good.        

"We are proud that such a man lived among us," Shaimiev said.

Asgat Galimzyanov was buried at the New-Tatar cemetery in Kazan.
