Tatarstan President: The future of our republic depends on today’s students

On January 24, at Volga Youth Center in Laishevo region of the republic Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met winners of Special State Scholarship of the republic, participants of federal and district youth conferences, young activists.

Welcoming participants of the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated them on the Day of Russian students - Tatiana day. Yound people called leaders for their intellect, talent and tenacity of purpose in arts and academia have gathered in the hall, he noted. 

"The world around us is changing rapidly: new challenges are emerging, many occupations are disappearing, and completely different ones are appearing. Today, we are moving in the right direction, but we sometimes lag behind. We need to rely on you, the initiative young people. Everyone has their own competitive advantage, and our task is to reveal these talents," Minnikhanov said.

He stressed that many projects implemented in the republic are closely related to youth, and studetns in particular. This education system, however, requires significant changes, especially high schools, Tatarstan President admitted. 

“Our universities are insufficiently integrated with the academic and social life. Abroad, all research centres are concentrated at higher educational establishments. This is why we will have to work a lot more in this direction,” he said.

The current pace needed to be kept up, securing the leading position, he added.

Tatarstan President greeted three girls found among the scholarship winners and attendees named Tatiana on their name day.

Representatives from youth organisations and special state scholarship winners then made presentations of their achievements.
