Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in meeting on organizing summer holidays for children and teenagers

Today RT President Rustam Minnikhanov is in Moscow oblast (Pushkin district, Levkovo village) to participate in meeting on organizing summer holidays for children and teenagers. The meeting is held by RF President Dmitry Medvedev in children’s health complex “Levkovo”.

The event is attended by Russian vice-premier Aleksandr Zhukov, RF Minister of regional development Viktor Basargin, RF Minister of health care and social development Tatyana Golikova, RF Minister of education and science Andrey Fursenko, plenipotentiary to the President in Central federal district Georgy Poltavchenko, heads of several regions, particularly Tatarstan, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, Kostroma, Tver and Moscow oblast.

Dmitry Medvedev emphasized that total number of children having holidays this summer should not reduce relative to last year. “Conditions for children must be normal; there have to be modern equipment, proper sleeping buildings and sport sites. We have about 3000 camps. Children staying there are mostly city dwellers, they really need such recreation”, - Russian President stressed.

Dmitry Medvedev thinks there is no efficient action program for making modern system of children’s recreation in our country. Thus, he set the tasks for developing infrastructure of children’s recreation, its material and technical basis and ensuring security of children’s summer holidays.

Beginning from this year there is new mechanism of financing summer holidays. Functions and commitments on its organization are now laid upon subjects of federation.
Dmitry Medvedev said likewise that reducing funds for children’s holidays is inadmissible.

We remind that in Republic of Tatarstan 211 281 children and teenagers are engaged in organized holidays. By and large, 115 children recreation camps, 1300 school camps, 8 sanatoriums, 69 tent camps, 150 profile shifts for creative and talented children and youth will work within frameworks of Program of organizing holidays, recreation and employment of children and youth of RT in 2010. Moreover, about 800 leisure sites are meant to function in big cities.
