Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov meets with St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region Tatar community

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with representatives of the Tatar community of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region on June 17.

The meeting took place at the Ambassador hotel in St. Petersburg.

Tatarstan Permanent Representative in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region Shamil Akhmetshin, Chairman of the city public organization Tatar national-cultural autonomy of St. Petersburg Rais Yarkaev, Chairman of the Tatar community in St. Petersburg Rashit Magdeyev and others told the Tatarstan President about the Tatar community’s activities in St. Peterburg.

Rustam Minnikhanov was interested in topical issues of the Tatar community, preservation of the cultural heritage, the Tatar language learning and preservation as well as preparation for the Russian Census 2010.
