Tatarstan President about “Ammoni” complex: We have implemented the project that many people considered to be utopian

On February 24, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, delegations of foreign and Russian companies, heads of federal and regional agencies, banks and contract organizations took part in a solemn presentation of the Complex producing ammonia, granulated carbamide and methanol "Ammoni" in Mendeleevsk.

The complex was launched at full capacity with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov on February 12.  

The modern high-tech complex, one of priority investment projects, was established on the basis of a mineral fertilizer plant in Mendeleyevsk.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Sojitz Corporation, and CNCEC were attracted for the project implementation.

 The infrastructure was created by a Russian company JSC NIIK “Design and Research Institute of Urea and Organic Synthesis Products”.

The funding of 1.4 bln dollars was provided by Vnesheconombank and Tatarstan. In the peak period 3.5 thousand people from nine countries, mainly Russian and Chinese builders, and Japanese engineers worked at the construction site.

As a result, Russia has got a modern complex capable of processing 1 bln cubic metres of natural gas per year.  The expected annual output is 717,000 tons of ammonia and carbamide, 233,000 tons of methanol, and 300,000 tons of ammonia nitrate.

Hitoshi Ozawa, Minister and Deputy Head of Japanese Embassy in Russia said: “Agro-industrial complex is one of economic drivers in Tatarstan. I am so glad that the project that will supply the republic with fertilizers has been implemented with the participation of a Japanese company.”

Hitoshi Ozawa thanked Rustam Minnikhanov and all participants of the project, and expressed his hope for effective cooperation with Russia, in particular, Tatarstan.  

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin, who supported the project when he was Prime Minister of the Russian Government, leadership of Vnesheconombank, Board Chairman of AO “Ammoni” Rinat Khanbikov, participants of the international consortium and all contractors.
