Rustam Minnikhanov meets Chairman of Czech Senate Milan Štěch in Prague

On April 7, at their meeting in the Senate in Prague Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Chairman of Czech Senate  Milan Štěch exchanged their opinions regarding current situation and prospects for cooperation between Tatarstan as one of Russian regions and the Czech Republic within the framework of Russia-Czech Republic relations.

Minnikhanov appreciated the contribution Czech Government has made in the development of Tatarstan-Czech ties. In particular, he noted great efforts the Governor of the South Moravian region Michal Hašek has made in this regard.

He also noted that Russia and the Czech Republic have successfully cooperated in different areas for many years. He expressed his confidence that a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation held in Prague recently will give a new impetus to cooperation between Russia and the Czech Republic.

Minnikhanov said that he hopes that Tatarstan will contribute to the development of interregional cooperation. He reminded that a strong delegation, including heads of ministries, departments, leading enterprises of Tatarstan arrived in the Czech Republic within the framework of the current visit.   It is expected that the visit will result in defining new areas for cooperation.

Minnikhanov continued that Tatarstan and the Czech Republic have created good collaborative mechanisms. Thus, the Trade and Economic Representative Office of Tatarstan is open in Prague, a joint working group on coordination of economic and trade cooperation between the Czech Republic and Tatarstan was created, regular business meetings are held. Moreover, from the end of April direct flights from Kazan to Prague have been resumed.

“We hope that the cultural component will be an important link between our peoples,” he said. He reminded that concerts of masters of art and the State Ensemble of Folk Music of the republic, an exhibition of folk arts and crafts of the republic were arranged within the framework of the Days of the Republic of Tatarstan held in Brno.

Summing up, Minnikhanov invited Mr. Milan Štěch to visit Tatarstan within the framework of his visit to Russia.
