18 May 2016, Wednesday

On May 18, speaking at a launching ceremony of a unique experimental high-voltage station Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan is the only Russian region capable of manufacturing high-voltage cable with a capacity of up to 500 kW and carrying out its trials.

“Some projects which seemed to be a dream a short time ago have been implemented at this site,” Rustam Minnikhanov said in welcoming speech.

“We have seen the most advanced cable being manufactured, as well as a laboratory equipped for conducting the most complex tests. Now we are able to manufacture any plants for the Russian energy market,” he added.

“All that has been done here is a part of the import substitution strategy developed by our country’s leadership, President Vladimir Putin. We had to purchase the cable abroad, now Russia and Tatarstan are able to manufacture it on their own,” Minnikhanov emphasized.

The first launch sped the plant up to 430 kW. Board Chairman of the INVENT Group (the station was built on the territory of one of its enterprises – Tatcabel plant, Laishevo municipal region, Tatarstan),  Elbek Safaev, who also took part in the event, said that in the future, the cable with a  capacity  of up to 700 kW will be manufactured and tested here. He said that he is convinced that half a billion invested from own profits was not invested in vain. “We already have requests. I hope that we will have the first results this year,” he commented. He added that the company planned to obtain an international certificate and conquer foreign markets.
