Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov: International cooperation of local authorities makes competitiveness of countries stronger

On May 26, opening a meeting of the Executive Bureau of International Organization “United cities and local governments” Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan is interested in participating in the activity of this organization.

According to Minnikhanov, the organization contributes to strengthening and expanding the cooperation between local government bodies in many countries, effectively defending interests of local authorities at the international level and their interaction with national governments.

"I believe that close cooperation between local and regional authorities will further contribute to providing decent living conditions for the population of our regions and cities," he said.

Minnikhanov noted that under current conditions of open economy, globalization and development of communication technology, international cooperation of local authorities is becoming an important factor in making the competitiveness of countries and regions stronger.
