Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has today met with Singapore’s minister mentor Lee Kuan Yew

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov has today met with Singapore’s minister mentor Lee Kuan Yew. The Tatarstan chief is on a two-day visit to Singapore, where he attends the 5th Russia-Singapore business forum.
Remind, head of Taratsan is on two day visit to Singapore where he takes part in the work of V Russia-Singapore Business Forum (September 26 – 29, 2010 ).

In the course of the meeting, the Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov conveyed to Lee Kuan Yew greetings from the Tatarstan’s first President Mintimer Shaimiev. Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Lee Kuan Yew for the opportunity to talk to him personally.

Rustam Minnikhanov recalled Tatarstan took part in the forum for the fourth time, each time the Tatar delegation was given a warm welcome.

Answering questions from Lee Kuan Yew, Tatarstan President told how the Alabuga special economic zone developed and about the new tenant companies that operated in the zone.

Singaporean specialists had been involved in the establishment of the special economic zone as consultants.

The Tatarstan chief said during the talk with Lee Kuan Yew that Tatarstan civil servants and municipal officials had taken state governance training at Singapore’s educational establishments. Singapore’s practice of state and municipal governance is very helpful for Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov holds.

Tatarstan today signed four memorandums of understanding with Singapore companies in the field of reforming education, including high school education, the Tatarstan President noted.

Another project, to be implemented by Tatarstan jointly with Singapore, is designing a project of an IT village, to be located near Kazan.

Lee Kuan Yew in turn wished Tatarstan President success in implementing all the projects, as well as more progressive mutual projects with Singapore. Answering to Rustam Minnikhanov’s invitation to visit Tatarstan, Lee Kuan Yew said he had recently visited Russia, including Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. He said he might visit Kazan during his next trip to Russia.
