Ilsur Metshin becomes the Mayor of Tatarstan capital once again

Today Kazan City Duma has elected Mayor of the city – Ilsur Metshin, proposed by the parties “United Russia”, LDPR and “Just Russia”.
RT President Rustam Minnikhanov and Deputy chairman of RT State Council Aleksandr Gusev took part in the session.
Ilsur Metshin had 85 % of votes in the district. Political Council of Tatarstan regional division of the party “United Russia” proposed candidature of Ilsur Metshin to the post of Head of municipal formation of Kazan city, Mayor of Kazan city to Presidium of general council of the party. Procedure of approving candidatures to the post of mayors is normally conducted only for million-cities.
Tatarstan regional division of KPRF proposed candidature of Ilgizyar Valeev to the post of Mayor.
Presenting Ilsur Metshin, Rustam Minnikhanov said that leadership of republic supported his candidature.
Ilsur Metshin thanked Tatarstan leadership for support and said that Kazan is considered to be the third capital in Russia and has become one of the best cities for business, won the right for hosting Universiade 2013 and other events. Besides, construction of houses, sport and social objects is being intensively realized in the city, the program of major repairs of multi-apartment houses is being implemented, tourism sector is developing, and upon the whole favorable conditions are being created for city dwellers.
Ilsur Metshin reminded that representatives of “United Russia” had come to elections also to present the program “Five-year plan for improving health of citizens”. According to this program, the party will pay attention to the following issues: consolidation of health care system, improvement of ecological situation, creation of conditions for healthy way of life, enhancement of safety of personal and social life.
The second candidate Ilgizyar Valeev, 47-year-old legal advisor of Tatarstan regional division of KPRF studied at Kazan state university together with Ilsur Metshin. He promised to take measures on increasing the budget, forbid infill construction and practice of destructing cultural objects in Tatarstan capital. He considers the main task to be creation of new working places by founding municipal enterprises.
By the results of secret voting, Ilsur Metshin was elected to the post of Kazan Mayor.
On 24 December Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a charity action “The Christmas Tree of Wishes” held during the 17th session of the State Council of the republic of the seventh convocation.
The Head of the Government of the republic will fulfill wishes of five-year old Landysh who dreams of a guitar, 13-year old Zariva who will get a smart speaker, eight-year old Leyla dreaming of a bike and 16-year old Evelina who will be given an e-book.
On 20 December, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the First Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and House Utilities Sector of the republic Damir Shaydullin informed that huge work in capital overhaul of 713 social and cultural facilities have been completed in the republic with the total cost of work of 15bn rubles.
On 20 December, in his address on the occasion of the Russian Security Bodies Officers Day, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated employees and old stagers of the service with their professional holiday and wrote: “
Throughout the history of our state, security agencies have stood guard over national interests of Russia and protected the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. Your high professionalism, courage and dedication to duty are a reliable shield against external and internal threats.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
