Partiarch Kirill: I am very glad that my trip in Tatarstan begins in Kaipy village

On July 20, upon his arrival in Kazan international airport, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia went to Kaipy village in Laishevo region, homeland of Gavriil Derzhavin.

“I am very glad that my trip in Tatarstan begins here in Kaipy village, in the year of 200th anniversary since the death of the Russian poet and politician Gavriil Derzhavin,” Patriarch Kirill said.

Patriarch Kirill noted that Gavrill Derzhavin was an outstanding Russian poet and politician, who played a big role in the formation of modern Russian language and its development, and founded the whole trend in Russian literature.

Patriarch Kirill thanked everyone who organized his visit to Kaipy. He gifted the copy of the image of the Mother of God, the original of which remains in Athos.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Tatarstan citizens honour the memory of their outstanding compatriot.

Russian Presidential Envoy in Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich visited Kaipy village as well.
