Decade of disabled people to start on December,2

This year decade of disabled people in Tatarstan will start on December,2 in Kazan Sport complex “Olimp”. This has been announced today at briefing in RT Cabinet. RT Minister of labor, employment and social protection Airat Shafigullin and his deputy Irina Prosviryakova answered journalists’ questions.

Decade of disabled people is held in republic every year. Charitable concerts, round tables, training seminars, fairs of vacancies for disabled people will be held in all cities and regions of republic.
RT Minister of labor informed that this year attention will и focused on sport. Such decision was made in order to highlight necessity of leading active life by disabled people.

According to data of department of RF pension fund on RT, total number of registered the disabled in Tatarstan makes 325603 people. Officials think that having such scale of problem one needs to create unified network of rehabilitation centres for disabled people.

As of beginning of 2010, 31618 of the disabled were registered in need of rehabilitation. Only 60,7 % of total number of disabled people in Tatarstan could realize possibility of rehabilitation in the first half-year.

The international day of disabled people is celebrated on December,1. Celebration of this day is aimed at attracting attention to their problems, protection of their dignity, rights and well-being, full and equal observance of human rights and participation of the disabled in life of our society.
