On September 10, at the Golf Club near Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a solemn opening of the 6th Charity Golf Tournament for Tatarstan President Cup.
Al the funds raised during the charity tournament will be traditionally used to support the "Ronald McDonald House" in Kazan – a free family hotel for parents whose children are undergoing long-term treatment in Children's Regional Clinical Hospital.
Sixty-seven golfers from Kazan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg, as well as Turkey and Finland are taking part in the competition, which will be held until September 11.
Welcoming participants and guests of the event, Minnikhanov noted that the golf is getting more and more fans in Russia.
President of Russian Golf Association Viktor Khristenko, who also took part in the event, said that this sport is actively developing in Tatarstan, which is largely due to available modern infrastructure and the interest of regional leadership in it. "Yesterday we discussed the programme to develop golf in Tatarstan until 2020. It will be approved in the near future,” Khristenko said.
